Malta is a democratic republic. The constitutional head of
state is the President of Malta. The direction and control
of the Government of Malta lies with the Prime Minister.
The Parliament of Malta is vested with legislative power
requiring final sign off by the President. The 65 members
of parliament are elected for five year terms.
